Normally when uploading a video with a song that needs to be licensed, all profits from advertising will be taken by the intellectual property owner and the platform. If this refuses to happen, the song needs to be edited and replaced with audio that does not require royalty payments. Today Meta announced the Music Revenue Sharing feature on Facebook.
Through Music Revenue Sharing, content producers can still generate income with 20% of the advertising profit being received by them even when using licensed audio. A library of licensed music is now accessible with songs from artists like Post Malone, Tove Lo, Grupo La Cumbia, Leah Kate, and more.
Only videos over 60 seconds long and using audio as background music can earn through Music Revenue Sharing. This feature is accessible to all global Facebook users with producers from the United States who can first generate income through advertising.
