The most popular smart glasses used to be Google Glass. When these glasses were released, the use of eye reality and augmented reality was still not popular yet and Google Glass was arguably introduced early at a time when it was not yet publicly acceptable and appropriate.
The selling price of Google Glass is also very expensive, so that this product is discontinued and aimed at enterprise users only. Google Glass is capable of displaying intricate instructions, device notifications, calendars and even taking pictures with just the wink of an eye.
Juston Payne, Google’s product manager today published an article about Google’s new eyewear project. He stated that these new glasses are augmented reality glasses and have already entered the testing phase. The glasses were announced during the Google I/O 2022 event last May and focus on real -time translation features to see individuals speaking foreign languages and the glasses will display subtitles in user -understood languages such as English.
When the glasses were announced, Google only did lab tests. Now these glasses will go through real -world testing to see the capabilities and limits of performance that can be achieved. Several Google employees and trusted individuals have chosen to use these glasses in public. Photography and videography functions will be turned off, but a built -in camera will be used to read data such as menu books in restaurants. These glasses will also come with a microphone and a screen on the lens for display.
For now, these glasses are still in the early testing phase. Google is still not sure when it will be made a product for sale to the public. If it does not meet the standards that Google wants, these glasses may not be sold directly. Together we look forward.
