Forgot WiFi password is a common thing. Especially if the device used is set to automatically connect to a WiFi network at home or office. The problem is if there is a new device that has to be connected to the WiFi.
Of course it's troublesome if you have to reset the modem or ask the IT department. But don't worry, there are events that are easy to outsmart.
There are several ways to find out the WiFi password on a network or router via a pre-connected device. This time we explain how to see the connected WiFi password on Android and iPhone phones.
How to View Connected WiFi Passwords on Android and iPhone Phones
1. How to View WiFi Password on Android Phone
Android offers a hidden way to find out saved WiFi passwords easily. If you're running Android 10 or later, you might be able to see the WiFi passwords of the networks saved on your phone. Here are the steps:
Open the Settings app and go to WiFi & Networks.
Click the gear or lock icon next to your connected or saved network for which the password is required.
Click Share Password. You may need to use fingerprint or pin to unlock this screen.
You will now see a QR code on the screen, with the password written below it.
You can choose to share the password directly, or if it's complicated, ask the person you want to share the password with to scan the QR code using their phone.
2. How to Get WiFi Password on iPhone
Finding WiFi passwords on iOS devices is tricky. Apple is pretty strict with privacy and security, which is why it's almost impossible to find out the WiFi passwords of the networks stored on the iPhone.
However, there is one solution. But for that, you need a macOS device. This guide does not work on Windows laptops or PCs.
So, if you have a macOS device and want to know the WiFi check password on iOS, you have to follow these steps:
On iPhone, go to Settings and then tap on top profile
Press iCloud, there you will find the Passwords and Keychain option. Activate by sliding the button to the right
Next, go back to Settings and turn on Personal Hotspot.
Now, on the Mac, connect to the iPhone's personal hotspot. Once the hotspot is connected to your Mac, you can open Spotlight search (CMD+Space) and type Keychain Access.
Hit enter and you can search for the WiFi network you want to know the password for.
There will be a pop-up window that will show the network details. Click Show Password. The system will ask for administrator credentials.
Once done, you will be able to see the password of the WiFi network.
