Less than a month after testing a feature showing all videos uploaded to Reels, Instagram today announced it will now be enabled for all users. All videos of 15 minutes or less will be directly shared to the account owner's Reels tab.
Another change made is to put all videos under 90 seconds to other users' timelines even if the account is not followed by them. This will be done to all short videos uploaded by accounts not set to private.
Instagram also introduced a Remix feature that allows new photos to be uploaded with photos uploaded by other users. There are several templates that can be used to create interesting content. A Dual video generating template using the front and rear cameras simultaneously is also provided to the user.
With this, the display of videos in Instagram is more and more similar to TikTok which is the closest challenger to Meta's platform. So far the reaction from Instagram's photography community has been negative as the platform is now seen to be more concerned with video content than pictures which was its original purpose.
