The list of new emoji candidates to be introduced under Unicode 15 has already been announced. A total of 31 emojis were listed such as ducks, crows, jellyfish, WiFi and ginger were included in the final draft list. The final results of the Unicode 15 list will be announced in September 2022.
The new emoji candidates for 2022 are lower than the 102 nominated for Unicode 14 years ago. Of these 31 emojis, 12 are skin color variations for the left palm and right palm emojis. The number of new emojis to be introduced will be getting smaller as Unicode no longer accepts nominations for new flags and there are now 3633 emojis supported.
