The leakage of personal data is not something to be taken lightly. This variety of personal information can then be used for identity theft and can cause high losses. According to a data breach report by Surfshark, Malaysia is the 11th country in the list of highest personal data breaches in the second quarter of 2022.
In total over 15 billion global user account information has been leaked since 2014. In Malaysia alone 6652,00 account information has been leaked in Q2 2022 which is a sharp increase of 733% from Q1 2022. In total almost 45 million Malaysian user accounts have been leaked to the web arena so far.
Quite a surprising figure but still far behind the United States in the first place with over 9 billion, followed by Russia (~3.42 billion), China (~1.77 billion), India (~984K) and France (~880K).
