MariSilicon X, Modern NPU Chipset for Enhanced Portrait Photography

This phenomenon was captured by OPPO to continue to provide various innovations, especially in the field of smartphone cameras. To provide a more professional smartphone photography experience, OPPO released a special chip to support camera performance, the MariSilicon X.



MariSilicon X is a technology introduced by OPPO to address the perception of differences in results and quality between smartphone devices when using different Neural Processing Units (NPUs) from chipset manufacturers.


Not only that, the technology is also to answer the challenges that are often felt by smartphone users. Where when the process of producing images often drains their smartphone battery.


Thanks to the presence of the MariSilicon X NPU, the problem of wasteful battery consumption due to shooting activities has begun to be resolved. This is because the technology focuses on optimizing power management and artificial intelligence computing workloads. Not only that, this NPU is here to provide increased smartphone imaging capabilities for both photos and videos.


The NPU is basically an inseparable part of the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and also the Graphic Processing Unit (GPU), this unit is commonly referred to as the System-on-a-Chip (SoC).


In order to support SoC performance, usually chipset developers will add shared DDR Bandwidth memory. The system can make the image processing process more leverage without the need to consume excessive battery.


In addition, the presence of MariSilicon X on OPPO smartphone devices will make imaging processing much faster. This is because of the Extra DDR Bandwidth Dedicated with data transmission speeds of up to 8.5 GB/s which are made exclusively for the MariSilicon X chipset.


OPPO explained that MariSiliCon X technology can produce top-notch photo quality because it is also supported by Ultra High Dynamic Range with a contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1 or 4 times the dynamic range produced by the OPPO Find X3 Pro device. Not only that, MariSiliCon X is also able to provide Clear facial structure with natural color. Not to mention if it is reinforced with the RGBW mode which presents 1.7 times clearer textures and 2 times faster raw file processing speed.



The greatness of the MariSilicon X chipset is not only limited to that. MariSilicon X is able to reduce noise through artificial intelligence (AI) on each R/G/B color range in parallel. So that when users take pictures at night, the quality of the photos they have will remain clear.


OPPO said MariSiliCon X technology is not only found in the Find X series. But OPPO also wrapped the highest type of Reno 8 series with MariSiliCon X technology.
