Minecraft Developer Rejects NFT In Game, Here's Why

Mojang Studios, the developer of the sandbox game, Minecraft, gave his opinion on NFT. They said that they don't allow anything like that in their game.

"To ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technology is not allowed on our clients and servers. Skins, items or mods are not allowed to be used," Minecraft said, quoted by The Verge, Sunday (24/7). /2022).

According to the Minecraft Usage Guidelines, Mojang explains how server owners can charge for other players enjoying it. Then, all players have access to the same functions.

"We have these rules in place to ensure that Minecraft remains a community where everyone has access to the same content. However, NFT can create a model of scarcity and exclusion that goes against our guidelines and the spirit of Minecraft," explains Mojang.

They are also concerned, that third parties may be unreliable and could harm players who buy them. According to Mojang, some NFT implementations also rely on blockchain technology and may require asset managers, which may disappear unnoticed.

"There are also instances where NFT is being sold at artificially inflated or fraudulent prices. We recognize that our in-game creations have intrinsic value, and we strive to provide a marketplace where those values are recognizable," he added.

In fact, Mojang himself has taken part in paying attention to the development of blockchain technology from time to time. Their goal is to do so, to ascertain whether the contribution of the technology enables a safer, more practical, inclusive experience in the game.

"However, we have no plans to apply blockchain technology to Minecraft at this time."

Not only Minecraft that rejects the practice of NFT in the game, considering that Valve also has the same opinion. They are also taking a tough stand against blockchain and NFT games on Steam.
