Yesterday Qualcomm has announced new processing chips for smart watches which are Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and W5+ Gen 1. It is the successor to Snapdragon Wear 4100/4100+. The new chip is built with a 4nm design, offering twice the performance and 50% energy savings.
Mobvoi and Oppo are among the brands that have confirmed to be present with new smartwatches using this processing chip. Recently, Mobvoi has revealed that they will be coming with a new TicWatch. The watch will also run Wear OS, just not sure if it will be Wear OS 3 or not.
This TicWatch is seen to have a new design that is still more or less the same as the old model. These watches will likely be launched under the TicWatch Pro category and they promise to have better battery life. This watch is also confirmed to use the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip. Usually Mobvoi does not use the "+" version chip because it is dedicated to Always-on display, and they already have their own chip for the second screen on the Pro watch. The use of this W5+ chip may give a surprise, let's all look forward to it.
