Netflix Users In Latin America Have To Pay More To Access The Service At Different Addresses

The issue of password sharing caused losses to Netflix. It is estimated that there are 100 million users who access Netflix through accounts paid for by others at different addresses. Netflix today announced they will require users in Latin America to pay for an additional subscription if they want to access the service at a different address.

The “Add A Home” feature will be accessible to users living in Argentina, Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic. In these countries all profiles can only access Netfix from one address. Netflix can still be accessed through different mobile devices and there is no additional charge if Netflix is used while on vacation in another location.

Netflix classifies addresses differently if the service is accessed from one address for two weeks. The fee charged is $ 2.99 (~ RM13) per month to add a house starting August 2022. Basic account owners can add one house, Standard can add two houses and Premium can add three houses. Customers can add and remove homes through the account settings screen.
