Oracle Database Service Now Available for Microsoft Azure

Oracle and Microsoft announced the availability of Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure. With this new offering, Microsoft Azure customers can easily provision, access and monitor Oracle Database corporate services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with an interaction experience like no other.

Users can migrate or build new applications on Azure and then connect to high-availability and performance managed Oracle Database services such as Autonomous Database running on OCI.

Since 2019, when Oracle and Microsoft partnered to deliver Oracle Interconnect for Microsoft Azure, hundreds of organizations have deployed secure and private interconnects in global regions including Singapore.

Microsoft and Oracle are extending this collaboration to further simplify the multicloud experience with Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure. Many customers joined, including some of the world's largest companies such as AT&T, Marriott International, Veritas, and SGS who wanted to get the best service from the existing lineup of cloud providers to optimize their performance, scalability, and ability to accelerate their business modernization.

"There is a well-known myth that you can't run real applications on two clouds. We can now break that myth because we give Oracle and Microsoft customers the ability to easily test and demonstrate more value by combining Oracle databases with Azure applications. No expertise required deep in any of our platforms or complex configurations—anyone can use the Azure Portal to leverage the power of our two clouds together," said Clay Magouyrk, Executive Vice President, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure builds on the core capabilities of Oracle Interconnect for Azure and enables customers to more easily integrate workloads on Microsoft Azure with Oracle Database services on OCI.

Customers are not charged additional fees for using Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure or for network interconnection, data egress, or data entry between Azure and OCI. Customers will only pay for other Azure or Oracle services they use, such as Azure Synapse or Oracle Autonomous Database.

"Microsoft and Oracle have a long history of working together to support the needs of our customers, and this partnership is an example of how we offer customers choice and flexibility as they digitally transform with cloud technology. Oracle's decision to choose Microsoft as its partner of choice deepens the relationship between the two companies. us and give customers the assurance to work with two industry leaders," said Corey Sanders, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Cloud for Industry and Global Expansion.

With the new Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure, users can easily connect their Azure subscription to OCI rental services. The service automatically configures everything needed to connect the two cloud environments and combine Azure Active Directory identities, making it easier for Azure customers to use the service.

The service also provides a familiar dashboard for Oracle Database Service on OCI using Azure terminology and monitoring via Azure Application Insights.
