After the Poco F4 GT we gave our opinion as the killer device of the landmark with the best value for 2022, the Poco F4 5G and Poco X4 GT in turn arrived at the our lab for testing. I personally chose the Poco X4 GT because it is a device powered with the second Dimensity 8100 chip after the Reame GT Neo 3. After a few weeks of use, I was quite surprised by the device’s capabilities and was also surprised by the software of this device.

Poco’s premium devices are seen getting more and more great with high spec offerings at affordable prices. This year Poco is quite active in bringing in various variations of their powerful devices. The Poco X4 GT in my opinion is one of the most interesting because it uses the Dimensity 8100 chip. This device uses a 6.6-inch IPS LCD script, but has pretty colors, supports a very fast 144Hz refresh rate and can display HDR10 and Dolby content. Vision on streaming platforms like YouTube and Netflix.
The screen does not pose a problem when using social media software, primers and web browsers. But there is a serious issue when using video streaming apps.
Netflix will get stuck when streaming content at high resolution and on some other video streaming platforms live video cannot be watched and only displays random lines as can be seen below. Looks like the screen is damaged. This makes the experience of watching video on the X4 very frustrating.
This issue does not occur on the GT Neo 3 which also uses the Dimensity 8100. But on the GT Neo 3, Netflix directly cannot be installed and will shut down by itself when trying to launch. This may be an issue for applications that do not yet fully support Dimensity 8100.
The Poco X4 GT also has a design that is more or less the same as most Poco, Redmi and Xiaomi devices last year and this year. It wasn’t a serious problem either, except for me on screen with a chin that was still thick. The Poco X4 GT still counts as a device with a pretty premium build in its class.
This device is comfortable in the hand, does not feel like a "cheap" device like competitors, loads a lot of the latest technology such as fast charging, maintains a 3.5mm audio jack, still has an infrared sensor, buttons are also nice to press and most interestingly it has a haptic vibration engine which is pretty good almost on par with a more premium double -edged sword device.
The existence of this device is to give Poco fans more choices whether they want a premium powered device or a premium -looking device. The Poco X4 GT has a lot of changes compared to the Poco X3 GT in terms of user experience. It also reminds me of the Poco F1, this device goes back to basics or Back to basic - with useful features and functions without any gimmicks.
Usage And Software
To this day I myself still do not understand why MIUI for Poco is not so good and provides a satisfactory user experience. It has a lot of bugs that are annoying and disrupt the usage experience. Most serious on this Poco X4 GT is the screen I mentioned earlier, if there is a high resolution video like Stranger Things 4 with Dolby Vision, HDR video on YouTube or FHD video on other streaming apps - it will start to get stuck.
The second annoying issue is, the mobile data connection is easily disconnected and as long as the device is not rebooted as long as there is no access to mobile data. Even when all aircraft modes are on and off, there is still no change.
Correct MIUI for Poco is adapted from global MIUI. It’s not wrong if Poco does an iteration of its own like Realme with the Realme UI adapted from ColorOS. Their operating system is quite smooth and interesting to use. If the other MIUI-based is Black Shark with JoyUI, which has absolutely no MIUI problems that often occur on Xiaomi devices but still has a good user experience.
MIUI for Poco 13 which is built based on MIUI 13 and Android 12 this time is seen to have many changes. It’s still smooth, no hang issues or system crashes when switching between apps, 144Hz which is very satisfying and provides an almost satisfactory user experience just isn’t enough. The Turbo Game features are also different and provide an interesting user experience so I had no problems at all in playing the first one.
I also this time have no problem in receiving notifications. So there is good in the MIUI for Poco software this time. It has almost given users a good user experience, just not there yet.
Bench mark
The Poco X4 GT is a device capable of playing firsts at extreme rates. In my test of playing PUBG Mobile without cooling accessories, one session around a few dozen minutes the device did not warm up at all or happened to heat up. In fact it is still as cool as usual and the device also does not have any time lag issues after playing. But graphics settings are limited to HDR with Frame Rate at Ultra settings only.
In the Asphalt 9 test, the first one also went smoothly without any problems. I dare say the user experience of this device is similar to the Poco F4 GT with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The benchmark is just the numbers and the actual user experience is much more important.
If you feel the numbers are important for reference, here I compare the benchmark scores between the Poco F4 GT, Poco X4 GT and Realme GT Neo 3;
AnTuTu
Poco X4 GT: 751,720
Poco F4 GT: 919,369
Realme GT Neo 3: 742,992
Geekbench 5
Poco X4 GT: 905/3,536
Poco F4 GT: 1,246/3,554
Realme GT Neo 3: 963/4,008
Scores on AnTuTu are seen competing fiercely with the Realme GT Neo 3 which uses the same chip. But in user experience, this score is seen to be slightly higher than the Snapdragon 870. For Geekbench, it is inconsistent across all devices due to the memory management handled by the respective operating systems. The Poco F4 GT and Poco X4 GT almost have the same multi-core score, but the Realme GT Neo 3 can beat the multi-core score of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 device.
Telephones And GPS
GPS and telephony during use there are no serious problems. I use when driving to Seremban from Kuala Lumpur, Google Maps runs smoothly and phone calls are also no problem with connection using VoLTE. The issue is seen to occur on mobile data connections only, i.e. it is easily disconnected and will not return as long as the device is not rebooted.
Camera
I do not understand and am also confused with the strategy of Xiaomi and Poco. The Poco X4 GT is a mid -range device and the Poco F4 GT is a flagship device. But the camera configuration is more or less the same. Even the use of 64+8+2 Megapixels is since the Poco X3 GT again. The notable difference is on the selfie camera only with the 20MP F4 GT, as the X4 GT is only 16MP.
Overall, what my eyes saw was the camera quality on this device was more or less the same as the Poco F4 GT. It’s a bit hard for me to differentiate if the photo results are shared on social media. What I realized is, this device has a better camera -made intelligence system and is arguably more consistent.
Throughout use I have tested the ultra wide angle mode, 2x zoom mode, portrait mode and even played with their Sky AI mode which can change the atmosphere of the sky. I was quite impressed with the camera capabilities of this device. The price is around RM1500, but has a camera quality like a RM2000-RM3000 device. It preserves a lot of details, has a good focus, as well as the color result is quite bright, sharp and will be pleasing if you look at each result of this picture is from Poco X4 GT which is not even RM2000 in price.
Battery
67W on me is no longer the fastest when used to 120W. But for a middle class device, 67W is enough and will satisfy many people. It is also matched with a 5080mAh battery that is quite large for the size of a device that is not so thick. In less than 50 minutes the device can be fully charged.
This Poco X4 GT can last around 6-7 hours in one charge for normal daily use. While around 5-6 hours for extreme use by actively using the camera as well as playing the first for a long time.
This 67W charging also does not make the device heat up and if using the device while charging also the charging process will not be interrupted and will still run out within the promised time.
Audio
I feel the audio quality on this Poco X4 GT is better than the Poco F4 GT. It doesn’t feel besieged, has consistent bass, good and clear singer vocals as well as melodic high tones. The stereo speakers tuned by Dolby Atmos for this device have a quality that will satisfy many people.
I use it to stream video on Netflix, as well as listen to music on YouTube Music, I feel it has affordable high -quality speakers. My only big issue is the voice level is not very loud and inconsistent.
Conclusion
The Poco X4 GT is an alternative to the Poco F4 GT which I can say has the best performance for the first. Just, because of mobile data connection issues it’s hard for me to recommend this device to the public. But the device also deserves a new chance, as the MIUI for Poco tastes a little different and tastes better to use. Somehow a large community of Poco users, many I see complaining and making noise about the same problem as the network-Poco to this day does not at all listen to their words and make changes. The screen problem is also a bit annoying to me, as it bothers me to enjoy my favorite TV series.
Even so, the device is still fun to use with a fast and consistent 144Hz screen, well -balanced and tasty audio, a long -lasting battery as well as a good camera. The Poco X4 GT is also a more affordable alternative with no button support on the haru, as well as cheaper than the Realme GT Neo 3 which sells for over RM2000.
For the 8/256 GB model RM1599, RM500 difference with the Realme GT Neo 3 - which one are you willing to? Save RM500 for a good user experience and just face bugs and other problems or spend an extra RM500 for Realme with almost robust software? For me, I’m willing to save a little old money and choose Realme only.
