Rumors of Microsoft Wanting to Release Windows 12, When?

Windows 11 just launched publicly in 2021. But it looks like Microsoft is preparing the next major update which may be named Windows 12.

Rumors about the arrival of Windows 12 came from a report by Windows Central which said that Microsoft had again changed the schedule for the release of Windows updates. Microsoft is reportedly going back to an update schedule every three years, which means the next major Windows update will be released in 2024.

Microsoft previously switched from a three-year update cycle after releasing Windows 10 in 2015. Instead of releasing major updates every three years with a new Windows release, Microsoft updates Windows 10 twice a year with new features.

But the update schedule changed after Microsoft released Windows 11 last year. The company created by Bill Gates is switching to a once-a-year update cycle for Windows 10 and 11.

Back to the Windows 12 rumors, not much information is currently known about the update. Windows 12, or whatever it will be called, is still in the early planning and engineering stages.

If these rumors are accurate, then Windows users still have to wait two more years to taste the new generation of Windows. But there's no need to worry because Microsoft will still be refreshing Windows 11 for the next few years.

Despite the initial promise of Windows 11 to be massively updated every year, Microsoft has recently been diligently releasing new feature updates once they are ready. The next major update, 22H2 or Sun Valley 2, will reportedly be released in September or October.

In addition, Microsoft is also reportedly going to cancel the plan for the annual 23H2 update in 2023. The update, which has internal code for Sun Valley 3, will be split and released every few months, up to four times a year, as quoted from The Verge, Monday (18/18/2011). 7/2022).

It is not yet known whether this change in the update schedule will also be applied to Windows 10. Since the adoption of Windows 11 is still relatively small, it is possible that Microsoft will release exclusive features for its newest operating system while encouraging users to want to upgrade.

Microsoft has not commented on the planned Windows update schedule, nor has Windows 12 rumors. However, in February last year, Microsoft said it was looking for new ways to release new features for Windows.
