Samsung has its own lost device search system like Apple Find My, which is SmartThings Find. With this system, Samsung device users can tether their device with a Samsung account for it to be in the SmartThings Find system. This means, if a user’s device is lost or a gadget like the Galaxy Buds or Galaxy Watch can be easily searched.
Galaxy SmartTag and SmartTag+ are Samsung's own object trackers that use Bluetooth and UWB systems. Apple only has a variation with UWB which is AirTag. This Samsung object tracker also uses the SmartThings Find search system which can be used as an additional gadget to find other objects belonging to the user as it can be used as a key chain.
Samsung reports that now their SmartThings Find search node has reached over 200 million search nodes. This indicates that there are over 200 million Samsung devices actively using SmartThings Find. By using this already registered device, it can help all users of Samsung devices more easily find lost objects with their own system. Objects can also be searched more precisely.
Even if the devices of all active users are used to find other users ’devices, the user’s location and data are still protected from being accessed by others. Samsung Knox is also used to encrypt user data and the location of the device being searched will only be revealed if the user allows it. User search IDs are also refreshed every 15 minutes.
