Malaysian Minister of Communications and Multimedia, TS Annuar Musa is currently giving an update on the Student Devices program.
Explaining in this regard, open tenders have been opened before. However, in the first stage, the Ministry of Finance has asked to re -tender, as some things need to be corrected. Due to this, a second open tender had to be done, thus leading to a delay compared to the initial target.
It is expected that the Ministry of Finance will make a decision on this second tender within a week.
Student Devices is an initiative in giving access to tablets to those from the B40 family for use in learning and other digital uses.
To date, around 100,000 applications for Student Devices are being processed. The implementation of the first phase is expected to be done as early as this August.
Meanwhile, new applications will be opened in line with the recent intake of new students to IPTs. New applications for this Student Device will be open from 1 August 2022 until 30 September 2022.
The second phase of the application will also be extended to cover IPG students and Matriculation Colleges. The delivery of the second phase device is expected to be done around October 2022.
The Minister also said that he will share more about the Student Device on August 4, 2022, during the Parliament session.
