The Samsung Galaxy series comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 chips. In Malaysia, all devices in this series are equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chips. In Qualcomm's latest financial report, Christano Amon, the company's CEO announced that a collaboration until 2030 has been signed with Samsung to continue using Snapdragon chips . This chip usage collaboration will include 3G, 4G, 5G and even 6G technologies.
What makes this announcement interesting is the revelation that 75% of Galaxy S22 devices use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip and Amon believes this percentage will increase with next year's Galaxy S23 series. This confirms earlier rumors that the Galaxy S23 series will not use an Exynos chip.
The failure of the Exynos 2200 forced Samsung to go back to the design table and produce Exynos chips specifically for Galaxy devices. Although manufactured by Samsung Semiconductor, Exynos chips are designed to be used by other manufacturers without the specific features of Galaxy devices. The Eyxnos chip for the Galaxy is expected to be launched only in 2025. Samsung's seriousness is evident when they hire a former Apple chip expert this week.
