The Oppo Reno8 Pro is a new device that replaces the Oppo Rneo7 Pro with an improved offering. One of them is the ability to capture photos and videos in good dim lighting. This is due to the use of the Marisilicon X chip used by Oppo on the latest flagship device, the Find X5 Pro before.
So we have been given early access to take a closer look at this device. However, this partnership may be a bit limited as it will touch more on design and photography first. Then, full details about it will be shared more thoroughly in the future.
We started the article with an unboxed session. As can be seen, the packaging box used has the same visual finishing elements as some of the previous Reno models. Green boxes matched with black writing. As far as we remember, the beginning of such a box was during the Oppo Reno5 which was later followed by the Oppo Reno6 and Oppo Reno7.
Just open the box, you will find a black box that contains some key accessories. Among them are the translucent silicone frame, SIM digger and user manual. Then there is the smartphone itself which is the Oppo Reno8 Pro. Next, the charger head is also provided free of charge along with a cable with an A to USB connection in white.
In terms of design, the body of the Oppo Reno8 Pro is now more boxy. Looking at it from the front view directly does not show significant differences with some previous models. In a simple sense, the design is the same as that used on the Oppo Reno6 and Oppo Reno 7 Pro. Still, the significant change Oppo has made lies in its now larger screen size. It is a 6.7-inch size with an AMOLED panel that definitely promises a more optimal viewing experience.
One more thing we noticed, the back finish is also now smoother. No more Oppo Glow concept design is used, instead it comes in a simple but attractive style. In our hands is the Oppo Reno8 Pro in a Glazed Green colored finish. The back of the device is decorated with a glossy green finish throughout.
If observed here, the biggest changes can also be seen on the camera hump. Not an exaggeration for us to say, it has borrowed Contour Cut Design elements as used on the previous Samsung Galaxy S series. Only, the camera hump on the Oppo Reno8 looks bigger and stands out as a result the device cannot be placed flat on the table surface even with the use of a frame.
Next, the camera option has three options with a 50MP main sensor that is matched to the Sony IMX766 camera system. This is the same sensor used by the main camera on the OPPO Find X3 Pro, Oppo Find X5 Pro and Reno7 Pro before. It is then followed by 8MP for ultra-wide capabilities and 2MP which can be used for macro shooting.
Talking more about it, the lens arrangement is quite unique without any bumps popping up. Two large -sized lenses are matched with one small lens in different positions. Close to the main camera is also placed LED Flash in a circular shape. Not only that, there is also the Marisilicon ISP branding on the camera module. Then, the Oppo logo is placed on the bottom.
As mentioned earlier, one of the unique selling points (USPs) on this phone is the use of the Marisilicon X chip. Clearly shows the emphasis is given to the ability to capture photos or videos in dim lighting. Next, reproduction of photos and videos with better detail along with natural colors can be produced by the device. However, we will test it further in the coming reviews to see its performance in the real world more comprehensively.
The use of the Marisilicon X chip also allows 4K Ultra Night Video recording to be done on the device. It can be activated via a special button known as AI Highlight Video on the camera app interface. With this, footage taken using the Oppo Reno8 Pro should definitely be better even in dim lighting.
Going back to the design, the power button made of metal is located on the right side. Synonymous with most devices under the Reno series, its power button will come with a green sign ornament. Next, the audio adjust button is located on the left side. Moving down is the SIM tray and does not support microSD card, USB-C connection and mono speakers. Not to be outdone, a built -in fingerprint scanner on the screen is also included for security purposes. Optionally, the face scanning system can also be used for faster device access.
Before we end this article, did you notice what exactly is not included in the role? The answer is a 3.5mm audio jack. This is the same thing that happened to some previous Reno models like the Reno5, Reno6 and even the Reno7 Pro. This will also cause a sense of unease among users who rely on wired earphones.
So that’s a little bit of our sharing about this new Oppo device. All sharing related to full device details will be shared later. We will also make a full review about it in the near future to see the performance of the device in the real world. As always, stay with us for further updates.
