Apple almost overtook Wall Street's predictions in its latest Q3 financial report, where iPhone revenue soared but its Mac business slumped.
In the Q3 financial report for the 2022 fiscal year, Apple recorded revenue of USD 83 billion, up 2% year over year, as quoted by us from The Verge, Saturday (30/7/2022).
"These June quarter results demonstrate our ability to manage our business effectively despite a challenging operating environment. We recorded the largest June quarter revenue and highest number of active devices in every geographic segment and product category," said Luca Maestri, Apple's CFO.
If broken down, Apple's revenue from the iPhone did increase by 12%, but in other segments its revenue fell. For example on a Mac, revenue is down 10%. The decline in this sector according to Apple CEO Tim Cook was influenced by supply chain problems and unfavorable foreign exchange rates.
Meanwhile, revenue from the wearable business fell about 8%, and revenue from the iPad fell 2%.
For information, the PC market globally and as a whole is indeed experiencing a decline. It's different than at the beginning of the pandemic, where the segment experienced a very significant increase.
Back to Apple, in early July they released the MacBook Air with a new design that uses the M2 chip. However, sales of the new device have not yet been included in the Q3 financial statements.
With the lineup of new Mac products, and the iPhone 14 line that is reportedly due for release in September, perhaps Apple's next financial report will record even greater growth.
For the 2022 iPhone lineup, Apple is expected to release two iPhones with large screens, namely the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Max. But the iPhone with a 6.1-inch screen will still be there, namely the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro.
