Challenge Samsung, Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 Released August 11

It is confirmed that Xiaomi will release its newest folding screen phone on August 11, namely the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2, a day after the Samsung Unpacked which will be held on Wednesday (10/8).

This was confirmed by Xiaomi through the poster of the launch event which was displayed on their Weibo page, after previously being leaked by Ice Universe, as quoted by GSM Arena, Tuesday (9/8/2022).

Apart from releasing the Mix Fold 2, Xiaomi will also release other devices such as the Buds 4 Pro TWS and the Pad 5 Pro 12.4 tablet at the same event, which will be held at 7 p.m. China time.

This Pad 5 Pro 12.4 is a different product from last year's Pad 5 Pro, which can be seen from the different screen sizes, which are 11 inches vs. 12.4 inches. This 12.4-inch Pad 5 Pro uses a different rear camera design, and uses a 50 MP camera sensor.

There has been no leaked specifications regarding the products that will be launched. But what is clear is that Mix Fold 2 will challenge the Galaxy Z Fold4 which is likely to be released at the Unpacked event on Wednesday (10/8) tomorrow, considering that both carry foldable screens.

It is also unknown whether Mix Fold 2 will be available for the global market. Because usually Xiaomi flagship devices will be available exclusively in their home country, and may not be available for the global market, for example the Xiaomi 12S series which carries a camera in collaboration with Leica.

Previously there were also two Xiaomi cellphones with a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip system that were certified. One of them has the model number 22061218C, which is likely the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2.
