Electric cars operate so silently that in Europe there is a law requiring them to emit noise so that their existence is noticed by pedestrians. The manufacturer gives a choice of various sounds but all of them are still quiet when compared to petrol car engines.
The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT is an electric concept car that breaks this tradition by being equipped with an audio system on the exhaust that is as noisy as a gasoline car. It produces the same sound as a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with a volume of 126 dB.
In addition, the electro-mechanical transmission system used also provides an experience like driving a car with a conventional manual transmission. The 21″ tires make it look more like a high-performance Dodge gasoline car.
This is Dodge's attempt to counter the perception that electric cars are boring and appeal to muscle car enthusiasts. Like other electric cars on the market, the cockpit of the Charger Daytona SRT consists of a 16" driver's dashboard and a 12.3" touch screen for the vehicle's entertainment system.
