French IRB Uses Artificial Intelligence to Track Tax-Dodging Pools

A swimming pool is a symbol of luxury in China. Because of the pandemic the number of swimming pools in France is estimated to increase by 30% in 2021. But it will also increase the real estate tax to be paid so many are trying to avoid it by not declaring it with the French IRB.

Therefore, the French IRB has used artificial intelligence developed by Google and Capgemini to detect swimming pools that have not been declared by the owner. This artificial intelligence detects the existence of a swimming pool in the home area through photos taken from the air.

To date 20,356 swimming pool attempts to avoid have been successfully detected. In France a pool of 30 square meters will be taxed €200 (~RM896) a year with the owner having to declare it 90 days after completion.
