How to make chats on WhatsApp web not peek at people

Opening WhatsApp Web in a public place is not always as easy as opening the WhatsApp application on a cellphone. Because of the larger screen, our WhatsApp chats are easier for others to peek at.

Even though the messages we send via WhatsApp are protected by end-to-end encryption, which means they can only be read by the sender and recipient, users still have to be alert when someone is confused and wants to know the contents of the WhatsApp message.

Fortunately, there is one extension or extension in Google Chrome that can help us prevent these ignorant people from peeking at WhatsApp messages. This extension is called WA Web Plus and can be downloaded directly via the Chrome Web Store.

WA Web Plus offers many features that WhatsApp Web does not provide. One of them is the option to blur messages and contacts so that other people don't peek.

In addition, WA Web Plus also has other features such as hiding the 'typing...' and 'online' status, restoring deleted messages, adding a Facebook-style like button, customizing wallpaper in chat and others.

How to use WA Web Plus to blur WhatsApp messages and contacts

Open Google Chrome browser on your desktop

Click the menu with the three dots in the upper right corner then select the More Tools > Extensions option

After entering the Extensions tab, click the hamburger menu in the upper left corner near the Extensions text then click the 'Open Chrome Web Store' option in the lower left corner

You will be directed to the Chrome Web Store, then type 'WA Web Plus' in the search field

Click on 'WA Web Plus for WhatsApp™' in the top search results

Or simply, you can click the following link

Click the 'Add to Chrome' button to install this extension on Google Chrome then wait until the installation process is complete

After the installation process is complete, there will be a green plus icon that appears on the browser toolbar

Click the icon to open WhatsApp Web and click again to open the row of customization options that WA Web Plus has to offer

To blur messages and contacts, you can check the options 'Blur recent messages', 'Blur contacts names', and 'Blur contacts photos', 'Blur conversation messages'.

The features of WA Web Plus are similar to those offered by WhatsApp mod applications such as GB WhatsApp, WhatsApp Plus and others. The developer of WA Web Plus claims that this extension is safe to use, but you should be careful because this is not an official extension from WhatsApp or Meta.

Before installing WA Web Plus, it's a good idea to install the Code Verify extension first from WhatsApp. This extension will ensure that the WhatsApp Web code that you are using has not been tampered with or changed by other parties.

When installing the WA Web Plus and Code Verify extensions at the same time, the Code Verify extension displays a 'Possible Risk Detected' warning with an orange question mark icon. This warning only disappeared after the WA Web Plus extension was removed from Chrome.

According to WhatsApp's explanation, this warning appears if there is an extension that interferes with Code Verify's work to check the WhatsApp Web page, or there is an extension that might be able to read or modify the content that users see on WhatsApp.

This is another indicator that you should think twice before installing WA Web Plus. Do not let because you want to hide WhatsApp messages from ignorant people, you can actually make your data and messages peek at by the developer.

WhatsApp itself has only recommended users not to use third-party WhatsApp mod applications such as GB WhatsApp and friends, while for the use of unofficial Chrome extensions there has been no specific warning.

So always think carefully before using an unofficial WhatsApp mod or extension, than later your WhatsApp account will be blocked.
