KF-21 Fighter Aircraft Will Operate With Korean Air Made Escort Drones

Korean Air is the national airline of South Korea. But they also have subsidiaries that develop their own drones. This week Korean Air has won a contract to develop an escort drone that can operate with the KAI KF-21 Boramae fighter jet.

The concept of this escort drone is similar to Loyal Wingman developed by Australia and Skyborg by the United States. The locally made 4.5 generation KF-21 combat aircraft will be the carrier aircraft as it shares information with 3 or 4 escort drones with the ability to be difficult to detect by radar.

Drones can then be directed to enter enemy airspace to conduct reconnaissance or attack without a manned aircraft facing enemy defense systems.

Although the KF-21 was built in cooperation with Indonesia, at the time the drone system was only designed for use by the South Korean military.
