Red light glows in the Pacific Ocean and confuses about its origin. The video was shot by pilot Dustin Maggard while flying over the ocean.
"We have no idea what we saw. We joked that we were flying in the middle of a military exercise or an alien invasion," he was quoted as saying by CNN. Not only one, there are several lights and cover a fairly large area.
Many netizens also put forward wild theories when they saw the strange sight on Twitter. Some call it as a result of a volcanic eruption to an alien base. "Surely this is the work of aliens," said a netizen.
There are also those who associate it with the story in the Netflix blockbuster, Stranger Things. "The vibe is similar to the scene in Stranger Things," said one netizen.
But an expert gave a fairly reasonable explanation. Neil Jacobs, a weather expert, said the origin of the red light was the rays on large fishing vessels.
"The boat is a commercial fishing vessel in the Pacific Ocean that uses a very bright LED light," he explained on Twitter. The light is used to attract fish to make it easier to catch.
"You can actually see this red light from space," he added. Even the so-called astronauts on the International Space Station can witness it.
