NASA Identifies 13 Candidate Landing Sites for the Artemis Mission on the Moon

By 2024, NASA will return humans to the moon under the Artemis Mission. The first woman will also arrive on the moon with the first Artemis I test mission to be launched this year. But before continuing the mission to the moon, NASA first needs to find a suitable landing site.

Last week NASA identified 13 candidate landing sites for the Artemis Mission. All of these locations are near the south pole of the moon that has never been explored by humans. The location was also chosen because it would be accessible regardless of when NASA would launch astronauts to the lunar surface. The list of 13 locations is as below. The final landing site of this mission will only be chosen after taking into account the opinions of the science and engineering community.
