Samsung has today launched a device with their new foldable screen, the Galaxy Z Fold4. With this new generation, Samsung brought a few changes making it more interesting to use than the Galaxy Z Fold3.
First is the screen, the Galaxy Z Fold4 comes with a 7.6-inch screen from the Infinity Flex Dynamic OLED 2X panel with a QXGA+ resolution of 2176 x 1812 and supports an adaptive refresh rate of 1Hz-120Hz. For the external screen, Samsung still uses a 6.2-inch Dynamic OLED 2X panel with HD+ resolution of 2316 x 904 and also supports an adaptive refresh rate – but only 48Hz-120Hz.
This device is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processing chip paired with 12GB RAM memory and 256GB internal storage up to 1TB. The battery of the device is still the same as the Z Fold3 which is 4400mAh with fast charging support 25W Super Fast Charging.
For the camera, the Galaxy Z Fold4 uses a tri-camera configuration that combines a 12+50+10 Megapixel f/2.2+f/1.8+f/2.4 sensor, OIS, 3x optical zoom and 30x Space Zoom. This is an improvement over the previous one which was only limited to 12MP. The camera used is the same as the previous Galaxy S22. As for the selfie camera, on the inside it's an under-screen type with a claimed better 4MP sensor. While the outer screen uses a 10MP sensor.
The device also still supports the same S-Pen Fold Edition stylus and still needs to be stored in a special case that is sold separately. Too bad it still can't be stored on the body of the device. Speaking of which, the device is also lighter weighing just 263g compared to the previous 271g.
Samsung also still uses IPX8 water protection on this device and for security it still uses a fingerprint scanner on the side through the power button. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 runs One UI 4.1.1 operating system built on Android 12L. The new software also provides dock support and uses drag & drop features to open two applications simultaneously.
The selling price of this device for the Malaysian market is RM6,799 for 12/256 GB, RM7,299 for 12/512 GB and RM8,299 for 12/1TB. Samsung Malaysia will offer Graygreen, Beige, Phantom Black and Burgundy color options. Pre-orders will start today August 10th until September 1st.
