In conjunction with the upcoming Great Shopping Day 9.9 sales event, Shopee has released details of a survey on the purchasing patterns of Malaysians that they have conducted recently.
Shopee asked a number of questions to 3356 local customers as well as 2132 of their local sellers about why it is important to support local sellers and received quite interesting responses.
42 percent of the respondents said that they buy goods from local sellers to get the goods they need faster. 30 percent said that the local goods purchased meet their needs and tastes.
20 percent said that it is important to buy local products to ensure the country's economy develops, especially after the COVID-19 epidemic that plagued the country for the past two years.
70 percent of respondents also said that buying goods online can result in savings of around 5 percent compared to when they go out to buy goods in physical stores.
This issue of saving is seen as very important to the Shopee customers who were asked, with 50 percent of them saying that they need to reduce their expenses due to the economic turmoil that is currently affecting the country.
14 percent of the respondents said that they do not have enough income to cover essential needs while 10 percent predict that they will be forced to make big expenses in the coming months and 6 percent of them are shopping for many dependents.
Kenneth Soh, Head of Marketing Campaigns at Shopee Malaysia also said that 7 out of 10 customers in the survey said that they use Shopee not only for the coupons and vouchers offered, but also because for the items purchased, they come with a higher price tag. cheap compared to other physical and online stores.
For sellers on Shopee, 8 out of 10 sellers in this survey said that Shopee was their first online selling platform, and 24 percent of respondents said that Shopee was the only online selling platform they used.
