Sony dominated the console market last generation with sales of the PlayStation 4 being more than double that of the Xbox One. With this large market share, Sony is alleged to have practiced anti-competitive business practices to increase the company's profits.
In the United Kingdom, Sony was sued by Alex Neill who is a consumer rights expert in the United Kingdom through the Competition Appeal Tribunal. He sought damages of £5 billion (~RM 31.8 billion) representing 8.9 million Sony customers who had to pay more for every video game and in-game content purchased.
All customers who bought content from the PlayStation Store in the UK since August 2016 can seek damages ranging from £67 (~RM354) to £562 (~RM2967) per person if Sony is found guilty.
