An extreme heat wave hit the European continent this summer with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius for the first time recorded in England. This led to an increase in the use of electrical power in the continental situation of a lack of oil for power stations due to the conflict in Ukraine.
In Spain, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez urged workers not to wear ties when going to the office to reduce electricity consumption. Without a tie, workers will not heat up quickly and will use less air conditioning. This is indeed an unorthodox step to save electricity.
Climate change was seen more clearly this year with record increases in the world's average temperature, the highest levels of carbon dioxide and various types of natural disasters that used to occur every few decades are now the annual norm.
