Announcements and media reports about 5G networks have been rampant lately, with reports such as six local telecommunications companies to sign a takeover of Digital Nasional Berhad on August 31, TM negotiating to use the network on their Unifi telecommunications service and Celcom set to start testing their 5G network as early as this September.
The Star recently reported that local telecommunications companies have already started testing 5G networks in the fourth of five phases, where closed tests are being conducted with a small group of their customers.
The Chief Operating Officer of the Malaysian Multimedia Communications Commission, Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus said that the final phase of the 5G network test is for the companies to determine the package of network service offerings to their customers.
According to the report, he also said that there is a possibility that these local telecommunications companies will start offering 5G network services more widely starting next month.
