Today, many are ready to search using the TikTok app to discover new things, before doing further searches on popular search engines. Realizing the matter, now Bytedance, the parent company of TikTok also introduced its own search application in China, called Wukong.
Interestingly, Bytedance also promises no ads on their search app. This means that, for each search, users will see the information they are looking for first on the top list, instead of listing ads.
This at the same time provides a direct challenge to Baidu in China. FYI, no Google search engine is offered in China.
Bytedance also promotes their search app as focusing on quality, ad-free information. However, Bytedance still prioritizes search results from a number of their products, including from TikTok that are displayed on this Wukong application.
For now, it is unknown whether Bytedance will expand their offering outside of China or otherwise.
