WhatsApp Extends Chat Deletion Time to Two Days

WhatsApp users don't need to panic anymore if they send the wrong message in a chat or group. The reason is that WhatsApp has now extended the time to delete messages to two days.

This new update was announced directly by WhatsApp via a tweet on Twitter. Previously this new deadline was past beta testing and is now available to all users.

Through this new update, WhatsApp users have up to 60 hours or two days and 12 hours. Previously, WhatsApp limited the time to delete messages to only 1 hour, 8 minutes, and 16 seconds after they were sent, as quoted from 9to5Mac, Tuesday (9/8/2022).

This update is intended for the 'Delete for Everyone' feature or delete it to everyone, including the sender and recipient of messages both in individual and group chats.

How to use it is still the same as how to delete messages on WhatsApp before. First, open the WhatsApp application and select the individual or group chat that you want to delete the message content from.

Tap and hold the chat you want to delete, then tap 'Delete' which is represented by the trash can icon. After that select the 'Delete for Everyone' option to delete the message to everyone.

But before starting to delete your messages which may be embarrassing, it should be noted that this new update can only be used by users who have updated their WhatsApp application to the latest version.

So if you want to delete a message that was sent to another user but that user is not using the latest version of WhatsApp, then the two-day deadline has not yet been applied. WhatsApp will also not provide a notification if the message sent has not been deleted on the recipient's chat screen.

WhatsApp has recently been diligently releasing new features. Previously, WhatsApp released a chat migration feature from Android to iPhone and vice versa. This Meta-owned app is also testing many new features that will be launching soon.
