It is common in video games that there are various buttons that need to be memorized to control the characters that are controlled on the screen. For veteran players, this is a simple process that will only take a few minutes. But for those who are not used to using the controls it is quite a difficult process.
At Gamescon, Amazon has announced Alexa Game Control that allows various actions in video games to be performed with voice commands. It can understand instructions to use medicine, change rifle ammunition cartridges and change the best weapon with just a voice command.
Players do not need to call Alexa first because it is always ready to listen for keywords to perform actions in the game. They also don't need to have an Alexa device like an Echo for example because any compatible microphone can be used with the Alexa Game Control.
The first game that supports Alexa Game Control is Dead Island 2. Currently Alexa Game Control is only supported on PC and Xbox platforms first but Amazon has released an SDK for developers to use on other platforms.
