Amazon announced they are acquiring Belgium-based mechatronics company Cloostermans. Previously Cloostermans offered their mechatronic system for use by Amazon in its parcel delivery warehouses.
The acquisition of Cloostermans will allow Amazon to increase their robotics capabilities in the near future and hopefully make work areas safer for staff and reduce packaging waste. Cloostermans technology that Amazon uses now is a conveyor system and stacking pallets. Amazon recently showed off the self-designed Proteus robot that is now being used in their warehouses.
