Amazon has recently launched several new products in the Echo series, Fire TV series and even Kindle. One of the interesting ones for us is in the Fire TV series because they compete fiercely with Chromecast with Google TV and other Android TV/Google TV dongle/TV box products.
Fire TV Omni QLED
This is not the first time they have launched a smart television, rather it is a new generation and is said to be one of the smartest televisions to date. Like other Amazon TV products, this Fire TV Omni QLED runs the Fire TV operating system which supports many video streaming platforms.
The newest feature introduced is Ambient Experience which turns this television into a smart display when it detects someone is near it. This feature will continue to display beautiful and attractive background images, Alexa widgets, provide quick access for users to continue controlling music with voice commands, display photo galleries, Alexa Routines and more.
This television comes in two sizes, 65-inch or 75-inch with a QLED panel that supports 4K display, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive. Not many other specifications were revealed, but the selling price of this Fire TV Omni QLED is $799.99 for 65-inch and $1099.99 for 75-inch, which is around RM3,717 – RM5,111.
Fire TV Cube
The Fire TV Cube is Amazon's flagship TV box that has far greater capabilities than their dongles such as the Fire TV Stick. This new generation comes with a fresher design with a cube shape that has more rounded corners and is covered with fabric to look like a speaker.
The Fire TV Cube still supports a 360-degree infrared sensor for it to control various electronic products at home including soundbars, other Echo products or even control the TV. It also has four built-in microphones to control Amazon Alexa with voice commands. This TV box also runs the Fire TV operating system and is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core processing chip.
Amazon also includes a Super Resolution Upscaling feature that can convert HD content to 4K as supported on Nvidia Shield TV TV boxes/consoles. The Fire TV Cube also has many connection ports including HDMI-in and HDMI-out to connect with other devices such as Blu-ray players. An ethernet connection is also provided, a USB-A port, on the surface of this cube there are physical volume controls, a select button and a microphone mute button.
It also has an LED bar to display Alexa status and supports WiFi 6E connectivity. The selling price is $139.99 which is around RM650.
