The Ukraine war has been going on since February 2022 and still shows no signs of ending. In addition to the fighting on the battlefield in Ukraine, cyber warfare has also been waged by both countries with train services in Russia and Belarus being hacked to disrupt the delivery of Russian equipment.
The latest hacking team Anonymous hacked the Yandex taxi system which caused severe traffic jams in Moscow last Thursday. Dozens of taxis received orders to go to Kutuzovsky Prospect which is an area crowded with vehicles. Traffic jams on Kutuzovsky Prospect have worsened due to taxis being ordered with reports of vehicles not moving for up to 40 minutes.
This hacking activity was quickly detected by Yandex and they quickly changed the algorithm to prevent it from happening. This may be the first incident of taxi services being hacked to cause traffic jams similar to what happened in the movie Furious 6 when self-driving vehicles were hacked en masse.
