The ASUS ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate were launched today with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chip replacing the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip used in the previous two models launched in July. No other changes were made except to the processor used.
So it still uses a 6.78″ AMOLED FHD+ screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz. The same screen supports HDR10+ display for maximum clarity. In order to prevent the camera hole from spoiling the gaming experience, the selfie camera is placed on the forehead with the chin of the device being relatively large.
This is matched with a Dimensity 9000+ chip, 16GB RAM memory, up to 512GB storage and a 6000 mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. The main camera combines a 50MP wide-angle, 13MP ultra-wide-angle and 5MP macro sensors. Meanwhile, the 12MP selfie camera is placed on the front of the screen.
The main feature of the ROG Phone 6 is the Air Trigger capacitive shoulder button that can be used as an additional button for the first. There are also two USB-C charging ports. One at the bottom and another at the side to make it easier to charge the device when it is being used horizontally.
A 3.5mm audio jack is also included which makes this device unique as this is a feature that is dying out. Adding to the appeal of the splash-proof device as it passes the IPX4 standard.
The difference between the 6D and 6D Ultimate models lies in the storage configuration with both equipped with 16GB of RAM but the 6D is matched with 256GB of storage while the 6D Ultimate is with 512GB of storage.
The back panel of the two devices is also different. On the ROG Phone 6D there is an RBG LED panel while on the 6D Ultimate the ROG Vision PMOLED screen is used. Another uniqueness of the 6D Ultimate is that there are open air vents to provide better cooling when paired with the AeroActive Cooler 6 cooling fan system. Because the design of the device is the same as the ROG Phone 6 and Phone 6 Bro, the same accessories can still be used.
The selling price for the ASUS ROG Phone 6D is £799 (~RM4136) and the ASUS ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is £1199 (~RM6207).
