Chinese astronauts on the Tiangong space station have now succeeded in a new experiment, namely germinating rice seeds on the space station. This simultaneously opens up space for long-term missions in enabling food production in space.
Through this Chinese mission, scientists aim to produce the entire life cycle of plants in space – starting from the germination of seeds to the production of new seeds.
Next, the results from it are expected to be brought back to Earth for further study related to any changes or mutations.
This experiment was started last July 29, and until now, it has grown to a height of around 30 centimeters.
Scientists also want to study how microgravity will affect growth.
