With Chromecast with Google TV HD launching last night, what happened to the original Chromecast with Google TV that launched in 2020? The product is still offered because it supports a higher 4K resolution but more importantly it will finally receive the Android TV 12 update. Through this update, the device will finally support menu display at 4K resolution.
This is according to a 9to5 Google report that got official information from Google itself. This update has been long awaited because for two years the operating system has not been updated with only security patches provided.
One of the reasons this happens is because the device's small storage makes the updating process difficult and users may need to delete some applications first before this can be done.
