At the end of July OpenAI offered Beta access to DALL.E which is an artificial intelligence that can generate realistic images based on text input entered by users. All 9 generated images are then free to use for commercial purposes but the issue is that they all also use a 1:1 ratio.
This makes it unsuitable for use in articles and needs to be cut first if it is to be used as a magazine cover for example. This week the Outpainting feature was also introduced by OpenAI which allows users to generate larger sized images in a ratio set by themselves.
DALL.E will continue to generate new images that are connected to the original generated image and the user has the power to control what is generated such as instructing it to generate another more suitable image. At this time the Outpainting feature can only be accessed from a web browser and those interested should wait to gain access as it is still limited.
