DHL Starts Using Electric Delivery Vehicles In Malaysia

DHL today became the first parcel delivery company to use electric vehicles in Malaysia. In the initial phase starting this October, 6 electric vehicles are used in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur with the target of increasing it to 61 vehicles by the end of 2023 throughout Malaysia.

The fully electric delivery vehicle CAM EC35 has a cargo space of 4.8 m3 and carries up to 1 ton. Each vehicle can travel up to 266 kilometers before needing to be recharged which takes around 8 hours.

By using electric delivery vehicles, DHL can reduce cargo dioxide emissions by up to 33% and at the same time reduce fuel costs by up to 48%. Through the vehicle electrification program, DHL wants to become a zero carbon company by 2050.
