Three years ago, after a long time dabbling in the world of drones and gimbal accessories, DJI began to present an action camera, Osmo Action. Now on the same day GoPro launched their Hero11 series, DJI also launched the Osmo Action 3.
With the Osmo Action 3, DJI returns to a design similar to their first generation. It's simple and neat, but it's a pity that there is no longer the magnetic modular accessory support that was introduced on Osmo Action 2. The sensor used is a 1/1.7-inch type with 4K120fps recording support and an ultra-wide angle of 155 degrees. DJI also includes 4x digital zoom support.
For stabilization, DJI now uses RockSteady 3.0 which also supports 4K/120fps recording. HorizonSteady mode is also a stabilization mode, but optimized for more extreme activities such as for a surfer or extreme sports. HorizonBalancing mode, however, is said to be a balanced stabilization mode between the two modes.
For the battery, DJI Osmo Action 3 uses a size of 1770mah with fast charging support that can charge in 50 minutes. They guarantee battery life of up to 160 minutes. There are two touch screens to control from the front or back, there are three microphones for clear audio and wind noise cancellation and also supports voice command control.
DJI also includes a frame to connect the camera to a tripod, stand, pole in horizontal or vertical form. Although it no longer supports modular accessories, each purchase package of several accessories is provided once. For protection, the camera unit itself is ready to support waterproof up to 16 meters.
In the United States, this action camera is sold at a starting price of $329, which is around RM1,490.
