Google Chrome And Google Drive Apps Updated For iOS 16 Lock Screen Widget Support

 iOS 16 is the latest operating system for the iPhone that was launched a few weeks ago. This new version brings more customization options for the device such as a customizable screen lock, more security features, and goes through a lot of Androidization.

While this update was being distributed, Google also announced that most of their applications will be updated to support widgets for the iOS 16 lock screen. Recently, the Chrome web browser and the Google Drive application have already received this update.

Here's what's on offer;

Google Chrome 106

Search: Search through the Chrome search engine directly on the lock screen.

Incognito Search: Search in incognito mode.

Voice Search: Search using voice commands.

Chrome Dino Game: Keep playing Dino Game on lock screen.

All of these Google Chrome widgets come in 1×1 size and have more or less the same functionality as the widgets on the home screen.

Google Drive

Suggested Files: Continue to see suggested files on the lock screen.

Search: Search files faster.

Starred: Shortcut access to favorite files.

All of these widgets also come with a 1×1 size, except for Suggested Files which use a 2×1 size.

Several other Google applications such as Gmail, Google Maps, Search, and News will also receive new updates in the coming weeks.
