Jewel Digital Ventures in collaboration with Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB) and 1337 Ventures is now launching a new hackathon event targeting the financial technology (FinTech) industry. Known as Hack-A-Tech 2022, this event is held to explore and identify innovative new solutions in the FinTech industry to create a better user experience among the public.
There are two participation options provided by the organizers. First is the Open Track which is open to developers, product designers, first-time participants and university students who need to present a working concept together with a new idea about the functionality, features and product offering to make it more interesting. The conditions of participation are open to all whether citizens or non-citizens currently residing in Malaysia. What is important, they need to have a valid work, student and residence pass.
Meanwhile, Advanced Track participation is open to technical and business experts who are interested in integration and co-creation of new products or services. The conditions for participation must be a startup company that has a valid company registration number. In the meantime, at least one representative with a technical background should be sent for each participating group.
Next, there are up to six types of challenges that are provided which consist of Financial Literacy, Financial Democratisation, Financial Adoption, Reimagine Engagement, Personalized Wealth Management and Complementary Services. Through it, the participants have to choose one of them for the development of projects and innovative solutions then all ideas, work or prototypes have to be fully submitted on the last day of the event.
Attractive prizes totaling up to RM391,000 are also offered to the winners - this includes cash, Microsoft Azure Credits, Microsoft Productivity/Dev Tools and Microsoft Azure Certification. This virtual program will take place from 14 - 16 October, then the Demo Day event will take place on 29 October 2022. However, participation has been opened until 1 October at the latest.
