The Android operating system has long supported the use of third-party keyboard applications. This support only came to iPhone starting with iOS 8, even that is still limited and does not support many features and functions like Android devices.
Then with iOS 16, Apple finally updated their keyboard to support the haptic vibration effect when each key is typed. This feature has also long been supported on Android devices and the Gboard keyboard app for iOS also supports this haptic response.
With iOS 16 already stable and arriving to all eligible iPhones, Apple comes up with a special website on how to activate these haptic effects. On this page, Apple warns that if haptics are activated the iPhone's battery will quickly run out.
Since I'm on iOS 16 beta, I no longer use Gboard on iPhone. But in my usage, I didn't notice the rate of battery drop when activating the iPhone keyboard haptics because the battery life of my iPhone 13 Pro is still about the same as before iOS 15.
How about your iPhone?
