6G technology is being developed even though 5G is not yet widely used. The company that succeeds in creating the best 6G technology will dominate the market in the next generation. LG previously competed with Samsung to set the world record for the longest 6G data transmission distance.
This week LG in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute Berlin managed to record a 6G data transmission distance of 320 meters which exceeded the world record of 100 meters set by them last year. This distance is still relatively short when compared to the transmission distance of 5G. This is because 6G will use the terahertz frequency which is expected to offer 50 times the speed and a short time of around 10% compared to 5G. With 6G only expected to be introduced from 2029, there is still plenty of time to increase this recorded data transmission distance.
