One of the components in a laptop that is not emphasized so much is the built-in camera module. Typically, it will come with a resolution of 720p or 1080p and come with a facial recognition system that is used to log into the computer using Windows Hello.
Omnivision, a small camera module developer company has recently introduced their latest CMOS scanner module, named OV08X, which comes with a 9.2MP resolution with a 0.7-micron pixel size that allows it to record video at 4K resolution and with HDR capabilities.
More interestingly, Omnivision says that this CMOS module can be used in various types of laptops, including large gaming laptops, up to productivity-class laptops in the thin and light class.
Cameras that use this CMOS module will also be able to take advantage of features such as auto-framing, human tracking and changing viewpoints. The OV08X CMOS module is currently being tested and will be mass-produced by the end of this year.
