RAM Plus Feature On One UI 4.1 Makes Samsung Device Performance Slower

The use of virtual memory has long been used in the technology industry. It has been in Windows for years, then device manufacturers from China began to include this feature in their devices allowing the RAM on smartphones to be expanded to one or two times.

For example on Samsung, this feature is RAM Plus and on my Galaxy Z Flip4 which has 8GB of RAM it can change to 16GB in total with the user being free to choose the amount they want to use. This is because this virtual memory will use the remaining internal storage of the user's device.

Recently, the RAM Plus feature on Samsung is said to not help improve the performance of the device but instead makes the device operate at a slower rate with decreasing performance. This problem started happening after the One UI 4.1 update on devices like the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Galaxy S20 and Galaxy M53 5G are also reported to have the same problem. This also happens on both Exynos and Snapdragon versions if the device model has different variations. After many reported this problem only happened since the update to One UI 4.1.

What makes it a big problem is, RAM Plus cannot be turned off and will be activated automatically whether we want it or not. Only in the upcoming One UI 5, Samsung will give users the option to turn this feature on or off.

In my tests, Z Flip4 and Galaxy S22 Ultra powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragin 8 Gen 1 with One UI 4.1 – this problem still didn't happen to me even with RAM Plus at maximum usage. How about you?
