The iPhone 14 was just announced last week, and as usual Apple didn't reveal its battery capacity at the launch event. However, MacRumors managed to find information about the battery capacity carried by the iPhone 14.
Information on the battery capacity of the iPhone 14 was obtained from a database of Chinese regulators. MacRumors said this database previously accurately revealed the battery capacity of the iPhone 13 series and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros prior to their official launch.
The battery capacity for these four iPhone 14 models was also briefly leaked on Chinese social media Weibo and then shared by the ShrimpApplePro Twitter account in June.
From the information shared by MacRumors, three of the four iPhone 14 models have a larger battery capacity than the iPhone 13 series. Interestingly, the most expensive variant of the iPhone 14 Pro Max actually has a smaller battery than the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
The following is the battery capacity of the iPhone 14 series, as quoted from MacRumors, Monday (12/9/2022).
iPhone 14: 3,279 mAh (up to 20 hours for watching videos)
iPhone 14 Plus: 4,325 mAh (up to 26 hours)
iPhone 14 Pro: 3,200 mAh (up to 23 hours)
iPhone 14 Pro Max: 4,323 mAh (up to 29 hours)
For comparison, here are the battery capacities for the iPhone 13 series:
iPhone 13 mini: 2,406 mAh
iPhone 13: 3,227 mAh
iPhone 13 Pro: 3,095 mAh
iPhone 13 Pro Max: 4,352 mAh
Apple says all four iPhone 14 models have batteries that can last all day. iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max can last an hour longer to watch videos offline than their respective predecessors.
Although the battery capacity is smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is still the variant with the longest battery life of up to 29 hours for watching videos. It is possible that the battery performance is supported by the ProMotion display which can lower the refresh rate and reduce power consumption.
