Yesterday up to 90 videos purported to be from the GTA VI video game were leaked onto the web giving fans of the series their first look at the highly anticipated game. At the initial stage it was not known who leaked the large amount of videos but now it has been confirmed that it was successfully stolen by a group of hackers.
Hackers who were also involved in leaking Uber user information previously said they may also leak the source code for GTA V and GTAV VI as well as various other assets. The leaked files are around 3GB in size with most of them showing the game in early stages of development.
It also confirmed GTA VI characters will return to Vice City and also a female main character that players can control. The authenticity of this leaked video was confirmed by Jason Schreier himself through his tweet yesterday.
The leaked videos have been shared to YouTube, Twitter and various other social media. But at the time this article was written, the majority had been deleted after receiving notice from Take 2 Interactive as the publisher of the GTA series.
Rockstar has yet to release an official statement on this incident but game development will certainly be affected as happened to Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last of Us 2 whose launch was delayed after the development company was hacked with game information leaked to the public.
